Blogged Again, Finally!

September 10th, 2008 by abigailsanchez

There is absolutely no reason why it took me SO long to blog since the last time, which was around Christmas. It’s not that I have nothing to say, trust me - I always have something to say. Yes, people know I’m very opinionated. So why then? I just kept putting it off. Days, turn to weeks; weeks turn to months; next thing you know - it’s been TOO long.

Anyway, I guess the main thing I can write about for now, is my new place. Well, I should really say - mine and Shane’s new place. We’ve moved into the new apartment for just over two weeks and we have pretty much settled in. Other than a few minor details that still needs to get done (change the blinds, need a nice clock, Fu dogs, etc.), everything else is set. Someone recently told us that we have done a lot, to have only moved in for two weeks.

Some say moving is one of the most stressful experiences. I would definitely have to agree. The fact that I have a slight case of OCD doesn’t help either. Kitchen stuff needed to be packed in the same boxes, bedroom stuff needed to be packed together, shop for things that we know we’re going to need in the new place. Once we’ve unpacked (which in my book, had to be done ASAP) write down things that the new place needed and list down everything that needed to be done. I think I may have driven Shane nuts. He hasn’t said anything though - talk about patience! I would’ve driven myself crazy.

Feng Shui played a big part of the how the apartment has been decorated, and it definitely feels relaxing being here. After all the insanity, we have now definitely made it into our home.

We got elfed!

December 11th, 2007 by abigailsanchez

This has been going around since the holiday season started (right after Thanksgiving, to be exact). As a matter of fact, I even made one for 4 of the people in my team and passed it along to the entire team, our manager, and then some. Yea - I didn’t have much to do at work that day.

I meant to do it for my friends, but Rochelle beat me to the punch. I guess she didn’t have much to do at work today either. I just received an email from her titled, "Christmas Party Preview". As I opened the email, I recognized the link. Yup, Shane and I just got elfed —> want to see? I was eating lunch when I opened by email and almost choked on my Chicken Ceasar Salad, from laughing.

I’m on Facebook

October 23rd, 2007 by abigailsanchez

I’m on Facebook folks… What started out as having an account to be nosey about someone’s profile (ok, that sounded a bit stalkish, I can explain), I’ve now updated my Facebook profile. And now for the explanation - signed up for a Facebook account to look at someone’s(that I know) pictures ‘coz I was told they were hilarious. Actually, looking at the pics, it was worth it - freakin’ funny. Can’t divulge the name though… Anyhoo, turns out, I have a few friends who are on Facebook but are not on MySpace or Friendster. So, had nothing better to do - now I’m updating my Facebook profile. So to any of my Friendster friends who are also on Facebook - look me up!

Catskills Cabin Weekend Getaway

October 17th, 2007 by abigailsanchez

So I finally found the time to blog after coming back from the Catskills for the weekend. Great weekend, I must say.

What was supposed to be a weekend getaway for 10 people, ended up with 6 people going and 4 people staying. Rochelle, Clev, Shane and I hung out like there were 20 people in that house. And the place was gorgeous. The house had everything - jacuzzi, pool table, fooseball, air hockey, arcade games, grill, etc. The property beautiful - 5 acres of private property - the woods, gazebo, koi pond; lions, and bears and tigers, oh my! LOL… Ok, that was joke running throughout the whole weekend.

Highlights of the weekend - Shane and Clev decided to put up a barricade on each stairway of the porch, using lawnmower, tables and garbage bins (not sure exactly what was on their minds then), Rochelle dancing on top of the van, Clev’s marks on his face while sleeping, "the mummy returns", and me almost falling down the stairs.

Didn’t really get to do much other than drink, eat, chill, hung out, dance, talk, crack jokes. We didn’t get to go fishing, or hunting or horseback riding. But I can honestly say, it was one of the best weekends I’ve had in a very long time. So much so that we’re already thinking of making plans to go back soon.

Reggae Sumfest Week

July 26th, 2007 by abigailsanchez

It’s been a couple of days since I got back, but I’m still recuperating from my vacation. I think I need a mini-vaca from my vaca.

I had such a great time. Endless drinks, the food (patties, oxtails, rice and peas, bread pudding, etc.), afternoon naps at the beach, the parties…

Sumfest was bananas! Although, I must admit, I thought I was going to die the first night of the show. Talk about a looong show. We didn’t get there ’till around 1am and it didn’t end ’till 7:30am. My feet and legs were killing me. By the time we left, all I wanted to do was just lie down and elevate my feet. We learned our lesson by the second night though - we brought chairs. Not that we were going to sit the entire show - just during breaks, band changes. It’s quite impossible to sit during the show. You tend to just jump up and dance when the artists perform. Assassin, Munga Honourable, Vegas, Busy Signal, Tony Matterhorn, Elephant Man, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Cham, Mavado, Anthony B., Ninja Man, LL Cool J, Lady Saw, Macka Diamond, Morgan Heritage, Alison Hinds, Da’ville, Shaggy, Buju Banton - to name a few of who we saw. Sumfest was an event worth experiencing at least once. I can honestly say given the chance, I’ll probably go again.

Was just going through the pictures taken during Reggae Sumfest week vacation. TONS of great pics taken for that week - shows and non-shows pics. Should I be a complete picture psycho and post a lot? Nah… Probably not… Not my cup of tea. I’ll probably sift through the pics and post snippets.

Ms. Chin soon come…

July 16th, 2007 by abigailsanchez

In 8 hours to be exact! Meg and I are just now getting ready and
waiting for our car service to pick us up to take us to the airport for
our 7:45am flight - yes, I know, butt crack of dawn. In my defense,
when I booked this flight, it was originally scheduled for 10am.
Continental decided to reschedule the flights.
Soon, we will be in beautiful Jamaica - Sumfest, the beach, the food,
the music! Like I’ve mentioned before, I’ve been to the island so many
times but never during Sumfest week. I don’t quite know what to expect.
Nevertheless, definitely looking forward to it.

Got something to say?

July 8th, 2007 by abigailsanchez

Yup, it’s been too long since I’ve written a blog. I knew it has been quite some time, but months?! I don’t even know if it’s laziness, not much to write about or just being busy. Since I’m bored at work, I figured, why not? (which means, this will probably be a whole bunch of nonsense). So here it goes…

I shouldn’t complain that I’m bored at work since last week was ridiculously busy. I’m hoping to get some downtime at work this week. Maybe catch a few zzz’s or watch a movie.

We had a girls’ night out Friday night and it just validated my point that I would much rather be somewhere more chill. We went to a lounge that was jam-packed. I mean, shoulder-to-shoulder, someone’s-elbow-up-my-back kinda packed. Definitely not my scene. It was like a meat market - a bunch of hungry dogs seeing food for the first time in months (and I mean both men AND women). By no means am I uppity or a snob. But come on! I think I had more fun BS-ing with the DJ and his security. Don’t get me wrong, I still had a lot of fun with Eliza and Megan, but the crowd was definitely getting on my nerves.

Only a week left ’till Meg and I are leaving for vacation - a MUCH needed vacation. Reggae Sumfest, here we come (Ms. Chin soon come). As much as I’ve been traveling to Jamaica, I have never been there for Sumfest week. I don’t quite know what to expect. But I’m definitely looking forward to chilling at the beach, mango daquiris, jerk chicken sandwich, fries with a drizzle of jerk sauce, the dinners! and my own drink. Although, I do have a new concoction I am going to make the bartenders try out. If all goes well, that will be my new drink on their menu.

Thought For The Day

December 14th, 2006 by abigailsanchez

Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So love the people who treat you right, forget about the ones who don’t and believe that everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said it would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

Tagged - My Blog Entry in MySpace

December 12th, 2006 by abigailsanchez

So the rules are, once you’ve been tagged, you have to write a blog with, at least, "seven weird facts/things/habits about yourself." Finish by choosing seven people to be tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment that says "you’re tagged" and tell them to read your blog.

So here it goes…

1. Whenever I see stacks of pastic cups, etc. that are not of the same height, I feel the urge to fix it and make it even. And depending on where I am, I probably will. - same goes for misspellings.

2. Can bend my fingers so far back that it almost touches the back of my hand, and still feel no pain.

3. I’ve left a friend hanging (literally) outside a hotel lobby, after he made a naked snow angel.

4. I can’t ride a bicycle.

5. Days before packing for a trip, I create a checklist of things I need to pack - AND items are listed in categories (i.e. Tops, Skirts, Shoes, etc.)

6. Alcohol will make me turn bright red, even though I’m not drunk or tipsy - type of alcohol and amount are irrelevant.

7. I’ve been called (and some still do) Ms. Chin.

On tagged list: Rigo (some say, I’m his female version - we’ll have to see if this is true); Joey (because there’s always something going on); Michelle (my roll dog! always a good time); Megan (because I’ve seen some pretty interesting things); Ferzan (someone who asks for McD’s right after a wedding can write about other weird things); Felicia (even after only knowing us for a few days in JA, she’s still friends with us); Amor (because the Montecillo clan are my friends I’ve known the longest - practically family! and i miss them)

My Boys

December 12th, 2006 by abigailsanchez

I’m a TV junkie, hate to admit it, but I am. I have certain shows that I need to watch every episode - Sex and the City (can never get enough of it, even though the show’s been over), Heroes (coolest new show), Grey’s Anatomy (McSteamy’s hotter than McDreamy, in my opinion), Veronica Mars (don’t laugh, even Stephen King thinks this is a great show), ER (after all these years, I still watch), etc. Most of these shows are on hiatus right now, at least until January. So I’ve been checking out other shows. One that caught my eye is this new show called My Boys (it’s on Tues., TBS - don’t know the time, DVR got me spoiled)

If I were to compare this show to another, I would have to say it’s an "ungirly-girl" Sex and the City. Let me explain… Like Sex and the City, the show chronicles the life and issues of a typical young, single woman. The difference is, she happens to be "one of the guys". Meaning, her best friends/her crew/the people she’s always with are all guys (about 5 of them). They all watch sports, go drinking, share stories, hang out and go to bars together, etc. Any issues she has or situation she’s in, the guys are there and somewhat right in the middle of it. She does have one female best friend, who is, shall we say, a lot more feminine (she doesn’t go out for a "drink", she goes for cocktails… and beer? try, a martini instead). And although that’s her best friend, it clearly shows that  she can relate more with the guys - her boys.

Now, anyone who knows me well enough can see why I find this show interesting. Albeit the fact that she compares life with sports (i’m not that hardcore), this show really reminds me of my crew and I, even after only watching two episodes. Their close knit relationship, their humor, even some of their issues remind me of me and the guys. Yes, I still have a few female close friends; yes, I usually hang out with guys; yes, apart from my cousin, my best friends are guys. But guess what - I love my boys!

We did used to say someone should make a show of us and our shenanigans. You think we should get copyrights for this show?
