Back to reality

B Waaagwaaan!!! It’s been 3 days since I’ve been back from my trip to Jamaica. Needless to say, I’m a bit sad. I miss the country, I miss the place, I miss the beach and I miss the people. I had such a great time hanging out with my friends who came to the trip and the friends we made from the last time we were there. I was able to both relax and party - just what I needed.

The day time was all about the beach, the pool and the pool bar (not ncessarily in that order). Partying started about sometime in the afternoon and carried on ’till late at night.  Being that we were repeat guests, we’ve gotten close with the staff and we’ve kept in touch with most of them, we were given special treatment. The resort did a great job on New Year’s Eve. They pretty much went all out in the celebration. Ice sculptures everywhere, bottles and bottles of champagne, amazing food, performance from an international reggae singer (who I got to meet - part of the special treatment), and a great party at the poolside which later on moved to the hotel’s disco.

One of my friends and I hung out at the beach with some staff members (which was SO against hotel policy), late at night, after the New Year’s Eve party. After hours and hours of partying that night, that was actually the most relaxing part of the evening, one of the most relaxing time I’ve had in a long time. We even got to see shooting stars. I can’t seem to remember the last time I saw shooting stars prior to that night in JA. Shows you how much we sometimes take things for granted. My friends and I also went to The Pork Pit one night (made the best jerk chicken and jerk pork). This place was featured in the book, 1000 Places To Go Before You Die. We also got to go horseback riding in the countryside (about an hour away from the resort). That day, we also got to swim with the horses in the ocean, bareback - definitely not an experience for the guys. Get my drift?

All in all, I had a wonderful time. Everyone was trying to convince us to come back sometime very soon. All I could tell them was "no bodda bawl me soon cum bak", which was a bit of a lie. The chances of us going back there are slim to close to none. After all, we were there three times in a span of six months.  But I will always have those memories. Sigh….. now it’s back to reality - work, responsibilities….
